President Obama chugs a Guinness

President Barrack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama shared a pint of Guinness with villagers at  Ollie Hayes Pub in Moneygall, Ireland earlier today.

Obama and his wife entered Ollie Hayes pub at 3:45 p.m. after being greeted by a cheering crowd.

The Village of Moneygall had been eagerly waiting for the President’s visit to the town;  also home to the President’s great-great-great-grandfather, Falmouth Kearney.

The American President shares heritage with 3 families from the village, from which some representatives were present.  “There are millions of Irish Americans who trace their ancestry back to this beautiful island.” Obama said, citing the Irish influence on America.

Ollie Hayes Pub is not ignorant on Obama. The pub is decorated with posters and Obama memorabilia from the 2008 election, where the Ollie Hayes clientele celebrated Obama’s heritage.

The president took the time to give appreciative feedback to his hosts, adding to it by saying he was thrilled to be there; before moving to chug a pint of Guinness to the traditional toast of  “Slainte!” (to health).
